About Us...
Martin Oil Company owns Martin General Stores, a regional chain of convenience stores. Martin General Stores' food service goes by the name CARGO. CARGO "Good to Go" food includes pizza, sandwiches, chicken, salads and more. Martin General Stores are linked in a network with Martin Gold Star Service Stations (including Reighard's, America's Oldest Gas Station) and a number of independent retailers. The network, called the Gold Star Fuel Control System, allows purchases at all sites, with information captured on one statement. Gold Star cards are great for individuals or businesses. They provide transaction details and controls that really help manage fuel purchases. Martin Gold Star and CARGO food items are registered trademarks of Martin Oil Company. Our History...Martin Oil Company was founded in 1962 as George O. Martin and Sons, Inc.. George O. purchased a small Tidewater oil and gasoline distributorship in Bellwood, Pennsylvania, that had, as he liked to say, "One employee, one truck, and one customer." George O. was soon joined by his three sons, and the business began a long period of expansion. Now in our third generation, we're still family owned and operated. In the 1980s, as the traditional gas station business changed, Martin Oil Company ventured into convenience stores. We now supply a large number of locations that we own, plus many independent stores, service stations, and unattended fueling sites. Many retail locations are branded with the blue and gold Martin Gold Star sign. Nearly fifty years later, Martin Oil Company services thousands of customers throughout central Pennsylvania. There are Martin Oil Company offices in Blair, Cambria, and Huntingdon counties, but deliveries extend to many areas beyond. |
